Folsom and Howard Streets in SoMa are going to get much safer in the near-term with all kinds of much-needed improvements, such as increasing yellow zones for safer loading, adding boarding islands for safer Muni passengers, and adding red zones near crosswalks to improve the visibility. But perhaps the most visible to users of the street will be the parking-protected bike lane on Folsom that began construction last week. The lane will make biking safer on this heavily-traveled route and help us reach our goal of zero traffic deaths.
